JONES HALL FACTS

In 1967, the Houston-based architectural firm Claudill Rowlett Scott was awarded the American Institute of Architects' Honor Award for its design of Jones Hall. The prestigious honor is given once a year to only one building in the entire country.

Emergency Calls

In order to find you quickly in an emergency, leave your seat location with your care-givers. The caller must provide your name and seat location (door, row and seat) so that an usher can notify you of the call. The emergency phone number is 713.238.2384.

Entrances

The lobby doors are opened one hour before Houston Symphony and Broadway Series performances and 90 minutes before Society for the Performing Arts events. Street-level entrances provide access to the main lobby from Louisiana Street and the side entrance on Texas Avenue. The courtyard entrance is accessible through the tunnel from the Theater District Parking garage. The theater is generally opened 30 minutes before curtain.

Food and Beverages

A variety of food and beverages are available in the lobby before performances and during intermission. Food and beverages are not permitted inside the theater.

Late Seating

Every effort is made to begin performances on time. Late seating is allowed only at designated intervals. For those awaiting late seating, the performance may be viewed on monitors in the lobby.

Smoking

A City of Houston ordinance forbids smoking in public buildings, including Jones Hall.
